Viagra-like drugs are safe for men to use, the experts said at a hearing on Wednesday.
The FDA is requiring that older drugs be approved for use in men.
A study found that men who took Viagra-like drugs had an average of four fewer heart attacks per year. Men taking other drugs with similar benefits had a greater risk.
The FDA said the study was the first to show that Viagra is safe for men to use. But it said men should never use it.
The FDA said men taking Viagra-like drugs have a lower risk of dying from a heart attack and a lower risk of stroke.
The FDA said it will review the study to see if the FDA is satisfied with the findings and to make recommendations for men who use Viagra-like drugs.
It said it does not know the rate of heart attack and stroke in men taking Viagra-like drugs.
It said Viagra is not approved for use in women.
The FDA also said the agency is studying a number of other drugs for safety and effectiveness in men.
Viagra-like drugs have been studied for other uses as well. They are not recommended for women and are not approved for use in children.
